1983 Napa Valley

A hot, sunny growing season morphed into a dismal, rainy 1983 harvest period in Napa Valley. The Cabernets ran the gambit from thin and weedy to elegantly styled, perfumed, and firmly structured. Of the latter type, I’ve recently tasted a few that have stood the test of time with as much grace as can be expected, but most wines are well past their best.
