Legend and myth.
When you drink Petrus there’s no escaping these two overshadowing aspects.
Whether it wants to or not it’s a wine forced to promise a singular experience of otherworldly sensations just by virtue of having been filled into a glass. Its reputation is so towering that the act of opening a bottle seems to set an almost impossible stage. Petrus doesn’t just get poured, it gets summoned, with all the anticipation, scarcity, and astronomical pricing hovering over the glass.
So how can a wine then live up to such standards?
Well the 2000 does a damn good job of it even though it is dodging and weaving in all its youthful glory. It vehemently refuses all efforts to be pinned down.
